Property taxes due Dec. 31

Escambia County Tax Collector Tim Pettis said his office has received more than $18 million in property taxes since Oct. 1.

Pettis said in an email that he received an abstract from Tax Assessor Thad Moore that totaled $18,097,460.69.

Pettis said the property taxes notices will become delinquent after Dec. 31, 2021.

“We will send out a second notice in January with an amount that is good through Feb. 28,” Pettis said. “In March we will establish our Tax Lien Sale list. This list will be on the tax collector’s website. You will have until the day  before the tax lien sale to remove your property from that list. We are scheduling the tax lien sale for May 12.”

The tax collector’s office is located at 8600 Hwy. 31 in Atmore and 314 Belleville Ave. in Brewton. Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. util p.m. Monday through Friday. Property taxes can be paid by debit or credit card with a fee of 2.5 percent.

Additionally, payments can be mailed to Escambia County Tax Collector, P.O. Box 407, Brewton, AL 36427, or over the phone by using a credit or debit card with the same fee by calling 251-867-0209, 251-867-0299, 251-867-0213, 251-867-0215 or 251-368-8086.
