ECHS to stay in 4A after latest reclassification, realignment

Escambia County’s football team will still compete in Class 4A, Region 1 for the 2022-23 seasons.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association released its reclassification realignments Dec. 14 for its member schools.

The reclassification realignment is based on school enrollment.

ECHS will compete in Region 1 with Bayside Academy, which moved up from Class 3A; Jackson; Orange Beach, which moved up from Class 2A; Satsuma, which moved down from Class 5A; St. Michael; T.R. Miller, which moved up from Class 3A; and Wilcox Central.

Class 3A Flomaton will stay in Region 1, which holds Cottage Hill; Excel; Hillcrest-Evergreen; Mobile Christian, which drops down from Class 4A; Thomasville; and W.S. Neal, which drops down from 4A.

In volleyball, ECHS will play in Class 4A, Area 2 with Jackson and T.R. Miller.

W.S. Neal and Flomaton play in Class 3A, Area 1 with Cottage Hill, Mobile Christian and St. Luke’s Episcopal.
