2022 MLK Day Parade is Jan. 17

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade, sponsored by the Concerned Citizens of Atmore Rho Xi Sigma alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and Emmanuel Faith Center, will be held next Mon., Jan. 17, at 10 a.m., according to CCA officials.

According to a release, the parade lineup will begin at Atmore City Hall at 9 a.m. with the parade rolling at 10 a.m.

The parade will end at Houston Avery Park, followed by a program and lunch for all.

Northview’s N.J.R.O.T.C. Color Guard; Bishop Daryl North, pastor of Empowerment Tabernacle, is the grand marshal; Judge Karean Reynolds will be the speaker; Carla Gray Westry will sing the “National Athem;” Paulette A. German will read King’s quotes; community service awards will be presented to Curtis Tucker and Dale Ash; Prima Girls will provide entertainment; and other recognitions will be presented.

Those attending are encouraged to wear their masks and social distance.

This year’s theme is King’s Legacy of Peace for Our World.
