Three Escambia Academy boys basketball players finished in double figures as the Cougars beat Sparta Academy 52-24 tonight in region action in Canoe.

Landon Sims led the way with 13 points, Brian Brown had 12 and Bubba Nettles added 11 points in the win.

No. 10 EA shot out to a 17-6 lead at the end of the first period, and led 31-14 at halftime.

Sims also had 10 assists for a double double; Charlie Sasser contributed with eight points and three rebounds.

In junior varsity action, the Cougars won 43-19.

Ty McCants led with nine points; ST Clark and Ronda Watson scored eight points each.

In junior varsity girls action, Sparta won 34-9.

During action earlier this week, the Cougars beat Lowndes 64-48 on Thursday, and fell to Wilcox Academy 43-35 on Tuesday.

EA is back in action on Tuesday against Wilcox Academy.
