Atmore Fire Department’s newest piece of equipment responded to its first fire Tuesday afternoon.

The AFD’s new brush truck, which is the newest truck the department has had since 1984, responded to Highway 31 across from Ace Bondurant to a de-barking machine on fire at approximately 2 p.m.

Soon after the truck arrived on scene, the fire was quenched and all fire units went back into service some 20 minutes later.
