Man wanted for murder out of Florida taken into custody in Atmore

A Flomaton man is in jail on a homicide warrant out of Florida after members of the Atmore Police Department observed him walking down a local roadway on Feb. 14.

Chief Chuck Brooks said at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday, investigators with the APD observed Timothy Johnson walking along Howard Street.

Brooks said members of the APD had been notified by the Escambia County, Fla. Sheriff’s Office that Johnson was wanted for a murder that occurred in their jurisdiction and was possibly in the Atmore area.

Johnson was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Brewton Detention Center, where his is awaiting extradition.
