Atmore schools dismissing early for basketball title game

UPDATE: This article includes Huxford Elementary School as an Atmore feeder school allowing students to check out early for the state championship game.

The Atmore feeder schools of the Escambia County School System will release early this Fri., March 4 to allow fans to attend the Blue Devils’ AHSAA Class 4A state championship game in Birmingham, according to the schools’ Facebook pages.

Rachel Patterson Elementary School, Huxford Elementary School, Escambia County Middle School and Escambia County High School officials announced today that students will be released at 11:30 a.m. on Friday for the game.

HES is having school Friday, officials said. Principal Leah Fuqua will excuse any absences for students whose parents contact the school and plan to attend the ECHS game on Friday. Parents will need to produce a championship ticket stub to ensure the excused absence.

The Blue Devils face Jacksonville at 5:45 p.m. at the BJCC’s Legacy Arena on Friday.
