Cougars run away from competition, win Rebel-Cat Invitational

Escambia Academy’s boys track and field team finished first in the Rebel-Cat Invitational at the University of Montevallo on Feb. 28.

The Cougars racked up 218 points in the win. Lee-Scott Academy finished second with 107 points. Banks Academy finished third with 99 points.

In the girls division, EA finished fourth with 61.50 points.

Girls

  • 3200-meter run – Tiffany Gookin, third place
  • 100-meter hurdles – Tava Johnson, first place
  • 300-meter hurdles – Tava Johnson, third place
  • Discus – KayLeigh Jay, first place
  • Shot put – KayLeigh Jay, first place

Boys

  • 100-meter dash – Devin Kelly, scond place
  • 200-meter dash – Devin Kelly, second place; and Bubba Nettles, third place
  • 400-meter dash – Bubba Nettles, second place
  • 800-meter run – Tyler Ragan, first place; and Carson Wilson, second place
  • 1600-meter run – Danny Doerr, third place
  • 110-meter hurdles – Landon Sims, first place; Devin Kelly, second place; and Maliki Haynes, third place
  • 300-meter hurdles – Maliki Haynes, second place; and Landon Sims, third place
  • 4×100-meter relay – EA, first place
  • 4×200-meter relay – EA, second place
  • 4×400-meter relay – EA, first place

  • High Jump – Brian Brown, third place

EA will hold its first home track meet on Wed., March 9 in Canoe.
