Funeral services for Earl Evan Manning Jr., 90, of Roanoke, will be held tomorrow, Thurs., March 17, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Quattlebaum Funeral Chapel with Bro. Robert “BoBo” Gilpin, Bro. Terry Henley and Bro. Eddie Bowab officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday before services begin.

Mr. Manning passed away Mon., March 14, 2022, at Arbor Springs Health & Rehab Center in Opelika.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Powell Manning of Roanoke; two sons, Evan Manning (wife, Angela) of Roanoke and Cary Manning (wife, Colleen) of Navarre, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Sonny Maynor, Meg Shelnutt, Jordan Maynor, Matt Manning, Jon Manning, Eric Manning, Caro Manning, Manda Manning and Leah Manning; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Maynor, Jordan Maynor, Matt Manning, Jon Manning, Eric Manning and Caro Manning.

An Aliceville native, Manning was born on March 6, 1932, the son of Earl Evan Manning Sr. and Ernestine Neal Manning. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roanoke where he served as a deacon. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean conflict, and was owner/operator of WELR Radio Station and Better Vision Cable TV.

Manning was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Mary Melinda Maynor; son in law, Don Arlen Maynor III; and two sisters, Belle Bachlor and Betty Bowab.
