United Bank holds annual joint advisory board meeting

Two years after the COVID-19 pandemic began, the current trends in the marketplace are extraordinary.

That’s how Guest Speaker Cam Marston described the current marketplace environment during United Bank’s joint advisory board meeting on March 10 at Wind Creek Casino and Hotel in Atmore.

The local bank holds its annual meeting to recognize members of its several boards, and to update stakeholders on the bank’s business over the last year.

Marston is an author and hosts a couple of podcasts that dive deep into the current trends of the marketplace, and what’s working and not working. He studies trends in the current marketplace.

He spoke about the different generations, from Baby Boomers, Gen Xs to Gen Zs and how they impact the marketplace.

Marston said it’s a new frontier, and he’s seen a change in what employees are being offered, including working from home and other incentives.

“What we’re seeing in the work place is here to stay,” he said.

Marston said the pandemic caused a lot of people to reset, and find meaning or purpose in their work.

He added that developing a culture in the workplace aids in establishing a strategic differentiator.

“We can find new and inventive ways to support them,” he said.

UB President and CEO Mike Vincent recognized the board members present, and elected officials who were in attendance.
