King said the Challenger left the roadway before hitting a culvert in the east shoulder of the roadway, causing it to become airborne for approximately 60 yards.

King said the vehicle then collided with a tree on the east shoulder of the roadway and overturned. After colliding with the tree, the vehicle became fully engulfed in fire killing the driver.

Before the crash, witnesses observed the vehicle driving in a reckless manner while at a high rate of speed, FHP officials said.
