CSX officials said Sunday that crews are conducting routine maintenance on its network at the Main Street railroad crossing and are replacing rail ties in the track area.

Because of the maintenance work, the Main Street railroad crossing will be closed from Church Street to Ridgeley Street.

Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce officials announced last week that while the a portion of Main Street will be closed, the businesses within will still be open.

For those south of the intersection, customers are encouraged to use the busineses’ back entrances off Trammell Street. For those on the north end, customers are encouraged to park on Ridgeley Street, behind the U.S. Post Office or at Box Car Willie.

CSX officials didn’t indicate how long crews will be performing the maintenance.
