Seven girls graduated the second cycle of PRIMA Girls during a pinning ceremony at Grace Fellowship Church on May 24.

Prima Girl is a six-month faith-based mentorship program designed to teach young ladies – ages 12-21 – how to become empowered, independent and successful women.

During the ceremony, Mitchell and George read poems about how thankful they were for the program and how loved they are.

Dr. Felicia Bishop of Destiny Worship Center, who also serves as a secretary at Escambia County High School, gave the commencement address.

Bishop spoke about the importance of mentorship and having a relationship with God.

“We know that’s the foundation,” Bishop said, addressing the graduates.

Bishop used a well-known movie quote from “Forrest Gump” to emphasize that every one is unique.

“The real you is within you,” she said.

Bishop encouraged the girls to keep reaching for the stars as the sky is the limit.

“You can keep trying until you get what you desire, want and so well deserve,” Bishop said.
