Escambia Academy officials announced on its Facebook page that Mike Sims declined the school’s offer to be its next athletic director and head football coach.

Sims and EA were working on contractual details soon after former head football coach and AD Hugh Fountain left the same position some two weeks ago.

“We regret to inform our Escambia Academy family that Coach Sims has declined our offer as athletic director and head football coach,” EA officials said. “We wish Coach Sims the best in his future endeavors.”

According to EA’s post, the board of directors is still seeking a replacement AD and head football coach.

School officials said that workouts will be moved to 4 p.m. this week only.
