Escambia County’s varsity volleyball picked up a season-opening 3-1 win over Monroe County Aug. 18 in Atmore.

The Lady Blue Devils defeated the Lady Tigers 25-20, 25-21, 18-25, 25-17 in front of a loud crowd at Cornell Torrence Gymnasium.

In junior varsity action, the Lady Blue Devils won 2-0 (25-16, 25-19).

ECHS will be back in action on Aug. 30 at home against Vigor.

In other area action, Escambia Academy fell 3-0 (4-25, 11-25, 21-25) to Lowndes Academy. The JV girls also lost 2-0 (6-25, 19-25).
