Escambia Academy fell 35-19 to Fort Dale Friday night in Greenville.

The Cougars shot out to a 19-0 lead late in the first half, but the Eagles scored 35 unanswered.

“They (FDA) made some adjustments and we let off the gas,” EA head football coach Gex Billups said. “They just kept scoring points and we couldn’t stop them.”

Billups said the Eagles’ running attack was the difference in the game.

With the loss, the Cougars fall to 4-5 overall, and will face Chambers Academy next week in the AISA Class 2A state playoffs on the road.

Billups said the kids have battled through a lot so far this season, and have overcame all well.

Billups said the administration always has had the team’s back, and has looked out for them.

Billups added that he’s quite thankful for Bobbi Sasser and the cheerleaders, and their support.
