A woman was arrested Dec. 7 on a chemical endangerment of a child charge, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that the arrest of Sheyanne Wooley, 22, of Atmore, stems after a caseworker with the Escambia County Department of Human Resources contacted an investigator with the APD on Oct. 10 in reference to the chemical endangerment of a child.

“Earlier in October, a representative of North Baldwin Infirmary in Bay Minette contacted the Escambia County DHR to report that Sheyanne Wooley, 22, of Atmore, had given birth to her baby at North Baldwin,” McMann said. “Wooley and her baby tested positive for methamphetamine. The baby was suffering from withdrawals and was transferred to another facility for treatment.”
McMann said the investigator requested subpoenas from the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office to obtain medical records from both hospitals. An arrest warrant was signed for on Wooley when the investigator received the records.

Wooley was arrested and then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
