Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

A foggy morning greeted a southeast ballooners group Jan. 2 for the Frank’s LaborDay Annual Balloon Rally.

Trailers began rolling into the Tractor Supply Co. parking lot around 6:15 a.m. on the final day of the rally. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the last day was canceled.

While I was standing there listening to the various conversations, I began to pick up that the rally proved to be a successful one.

According to reports, the rally saw many balloons go up in the air with their various designs and logos.

When the event began last week, many people were asking where they could see these balloons. Some people even went up on tethered flights. I bet they had fun and a nice view.

I’m sure that I’ll be going up in a balloon soon, so stay tuned to this space.

Over the New Year’s weekend, I saw mountains, family gather for some good times together and my mother showing her granddaughter (my niece) how to make her cinnamon rolls.

Last Wednesday, to be exact, my parents and myself went on a walk at Chatuge Lake in Clay County, N.C.

The experience was a wonderful one. We walked some 3 miles and took in the scenery around us. From my vantage point, it looked like mountains were all around us.

In fact, my family went back there two days later with my brother and his kids to try out their new presents.

The outing was a lot of fun, and one I’ll treasure.

The weekend brought with it some rain on Saturday, but a lot of good college football. We saw two great College Football Playoff semifinal games, and are interested in seeing how TCU matches up against Georgian in the national championship.

New Year’s Day dawned and I made my way back to Atmore to start a week after some much-needed time off.

See you next week, right here.
