McMann said on Jan. 10, at approximately 8:30 p.m. and on Jan. 11 at approximately 11:30 a.m., APD officers responded to the area of Brooks Lane in reference to shots fire.

“In both incidents a vehicle chased the victim in a vehicle while shooting a weapon,” McMann said. “Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Emonee Demontae Long, 20, of Century.”

McMann said Long also has a rape II charge that stems from an incident in 2020.

“Long wasn’t arrested at the time of that incident due to his alleged involvement with a murder in Century in the same time period,” McMann said. “Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Long in reference to that incident.”

Long was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
