APD investigating shooting near West Side Park Jan. 25

The Atmore Police Department is investigating who fired a gun in the area of the West Side Park Jan. 25 at approximately 7:35 p.m.

Investigations and Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that APD officers responded to the area of the park in reference to a shots fired call.

“When the officers arrived at the scene, they discovered several spent casings in the street,” McMann said. “While processing the scene, the officers were contacted by a bond agent who stated he may know who was involved.

“While speaking with the bond agent, officers were notified that a residence on West Nashville Avenue had been struck by gunfire,” he said. “Officers responded to the residence and observed damage to the residence and a vehicle.”

McMann said the vehicle was owned by the employer of the victim at the residence.

McMann said investigators are currently working to determine who fired the shots.
