Atmore man arrested on multiple drug charges

A Little River man was arrested Feb. 13 on multiple drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said Mark Boutwell, 21, of Little River, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said in a release that an APD officer observed a vehicle driving erratically on East Horner Street at approximately 11:25 p.m. on Feb. 13.

“The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Mark Boutwell, 21, of Little River,” McMann said. “During the interaction between Boutwell and the officer, Boutwell handed the officer a bag (allegedly) containing a glass pipe and approximately 1.2 grams of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Upon searching the vehicle, the officer discovered a plastic baggie containing .8 grams of a green leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana.”

McMann said Boutwell was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
