Forecasters said a weak cold front may bring slightly cooler temperatures by Monday

Temperatures in Atmore on Wednesday reached the high 70s around midday, which was 4 degrees lower than a record temperature taken in 2018, according to the National Weather Service.

The high in Atmore on Wednesday reached 79 degrees at 11:56 a.m., according to the NWS.

NWS Meteorologist Steve Miller said a high-pressure system has been sitting over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean over the last few weeks.

Miller said a weak cold front may bring slightly cooler temperatures on Monday, but to expect temperatures to stay above normal through the next seven days.

Miller said in Mobile, they hit 82 degrees at Mobile Regional Airport on Wednesday. Their previous record was 81 degrees in 2018, he said.

In Pensacola, Fla., they tied their record high of 79 degrees, a record that was last recorded in 2005.
