3rd annual Monroe County Rodeo is Aug. 11-12

After a successful event in 2022, the Monroeville/Monroe County Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club of Monroeville are excited to announce plans for the 3rd annual Monroe County Rodeo. This year’s rodeo, with Grand Buckle Sponsor South Alabama Kubota and Rental, will be held on August 11-12 in Frisco City on Snider Avenue.

The NCPRA (National Cowboy Pro Rodeo Association) sanctioned event, will be contracted by 5T Rodeo Company which is managed by world champion calf roper and Mississippi Hall of Fame inductee, Herbert Theriot.

The Monroe County Rodeo will provide fun for the whole family with gates opening nightly at 6 pm. An assortment of food venders, rodeo merchandise and a mechanical bull will be onsite nightly. The rodeo will begin at 7 pm with traditional rodeo competitions including barrel racing, team roping, calf roping, saddle bronc riding, breakaway roping, bareback riding, and bull riding.

Justalil’ Rodeo Company from Grady, Alabama will manage the Mutton Bustin’ (children riding sheep). Registration will open this summer for kids aged 4-8 years old who are interested in participating in the Mutton Bustin’. Other entertainment will be provided by a rodeo clown and there will be many crowd participation games nightly.

Jodi Chambers, Kiwanis Club President stated, “We are so excited to partner with the Chamber of Commerce again this year for the Monroe County Rodeo.” Penelope Hines, Chamber Executive Director replied, “Rodeo sponsorships are now available and interested businesses should contact the Chamber office at 251-743-2879. Sponsorship forms may be downloaded from the Chamber’s website monroecountyal.com”

Proceeds from the rodeo will benefit the Monroeville Kiwanis Club’s many children’s projects, including Angel Tree, Monroe County Library, Monroeville YMCA, Monroe County Education Foundation, and scholarships for local high school students. Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child at a time.
