Northview swept Jay, Fla. 9-2, 5-1 in FHSAA Class 1A, District 1 baseball action March 23-24.

The Chiefs (9-3) earned both wins on the road at JHS and at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, Fla.

 

NHS 5, JHS 1

Northview’s Cason Burkett allowed no runs on four hits and had four strikeouts in 3.0 innings to earn the win on the mound. Kaden Odom came in in relief, striking out two and allowing one run on two hits.

Jamarkus Jefferson went 1-for-2 with two RBIs to lead NHS. Odom added two runs and an RBI.

 

NHS 9, JHS 2

Northview scored five runs in the seventh inning to pull away for good at JHS.

Rustin Pope went 3-for-5 with an RBI; Odom went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI; Tyler Shaw went 2-for-3 with two runs; and Burkett went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Jefferson had eight strikeouts, allowed two runs on six hits and had three walks in 5.0 innings on the mound.
