Blue Devils hold football banquet April 3

Escambia County honored its own during a football banquet Monday night in the school auditorium.

The Blue Devils got off to a hot start in 2022, going 4-1 in the first half of the season. ECHS ended its season 4-6.

Special awards and recognitions were given to cheerleaders and football players during the banquet.

  • Blue Devil Community Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award – Lillie Johnson

“I am delighted to get this gift from y’all,” Johnson said. “What I do I’m doing for the kids. I found the Yellow Hat Society, but the Yellow Hats found me.”

  • Freshman of the Year – Devin Riley
  • All In Award – Jovaughnta Henderson
  • Defensive lineman of the Year – Christian Lee
  • Linebacker of the Year – Exavion Bradley
  • Running back of the Year – James Whatley
  • Defensive back of the Year – Lebron Hooks
  • Wide receiver of the Year – Lorenzo Arnold
  • Offensive lineman of the Year – Kaiden Arnold
  • Blue Devil Awards – Marrion Jooks, Gabe Hooks, Bradley, Mason Huggins, Carmelo Turner, Henderson and Elijah Thomas
  • Special teams Player of the Year – Luis Garcia
  • Defensive Player of the Year – Lebron Hooks
  • Offensive Player of the Year – Lorenzo Arnold
  • MVP – Dakota DeSpain
  • Parent Award – William DeSpain
