Pensacola, Fla. man, woman arrested April 6 on drug trafficking charge

A Pensacola, Fla. man and woman were arrested April 6 on drug and trafficking charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Jovante Ducree, 30, and Artavian Jenkins, 34, were charged with drug trafficking (crack cocaine), possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said the arrest stemmed after an APD officer observed a vehicle fail to stop for a red light at approximately 12:55 p.m. on the day of the arrest.

“The officer stopped the vehicle and contacted the occupants (Ducree and Jenkins),” McMann said. “While speaking with Ducree and Jenkins the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.”

McMann said upon searching the vehicle, the officers discovered 47.2 grams of a white rock substance that field tested positive for crack cocaine, 0.5 grams of a white powdery substance that field tested positive for cocaine, 8 grams of a green, leafy substance that field tested positive for marijuana and a digital scale.

Both then were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
