Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said Robert Jones, 38, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said in a release that the arrest occurred after an APD officer was notified by a citizen that two people allegedly were arguing at the intersection of Highway 21 and Highway 31 early on April 13.

“While speaking with Jones, the officers noticed he was acting strangely and was extremely concerned with book bag that was in his possession,” McMann said. “The officers received consent to search the book bag, and recovered a glass tube which is commonly used to ingest narcotics with a charred residue in the tube that field tested positive for methamphetamine.”

Jones was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
