Dorothy Ann Avera, 85, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on May 12, 2023, in McDonough surrounded by her family. She was born on Feb. 12, 1938, to Eddie Boe Harwell Avera and Leota Myrtle (Fuller) Avera in New Site.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Boe Harwell Avera and Leota Myrtle (Fuller) Avera; the father of their children, Gordon Gwinn Hall; her daughter, Deborah Kay (Hall) Craven; her great-grand daughter, Scarlet Kay Kilcrease; her sister, Sharon Nell Avera; and her brother, Donald Avera.

She is survived by her two daughters, Gená Hall Day of Decatur, Ga. and Gwenlynn Hall-Curry (Mike Curry) of McDonough; three grandchildren, Katie (Craven) Sogn-Lane, Chrissy Curry and Michael Curry; and one great-grandson, Elijah Kilcrease.

Funeral service will be held on Tues., May 16, 2023 at noon at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Sellers officiating. Interment will follow in Nokomis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tues., May 16, 2023 from 11 a.m. until service time at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
