The Atmore Police Department released the identity of the person who died as a result of a shooting on May 29.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Robert Starks, of Atmore, died from his injuries, a result of a shooting that occurred in the area of Carver Avenue and King Street.

McMann said the other individual who was shot, was transported to a trauma center.

McMann said the motive is still under investigation and investigators have interviewed witnesses and are actively seeking other witnesses.

McMann said in an earlier release that officers responded to the area at approximately 2:15 a.m. to a shots fired complaint. He said when officers arrived on scene, they discovered two people had been shot.
