A Gulf Breeze, Fla. man was arrested Nov. 23 on drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that William Fite, 55, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 10:10 a.m. on the day of arrest, APD officers responded to an area of Jack Springs Road in reference to a vehicle being driven recklessly.
“The officers observed the vehicle turn into the parking lot of a business, and contacted the driver (Fite),” he said.
McMann said Fite appeared to be acting in a strange manner, and gave consent to the officers to conduct a search of his vehicle.
“The officers discovered a multi colored powder that field tested positive for opiates and methamphetamine,” McMann said. “The officers also discovered a kratom capsule.”
Fite was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
