An Atmore woman was arrested July 14 on drug and theft charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Ashley Findley, 41, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft of property IV and criminal trespassing III.
McMann said at approximately 5:35 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting complaint.
McMann added that when officers arrived, they made contact with Findley.
“Findley failed to pay for several items and was attempting to leave the store,” he said. “Officers also learned that Findley had been trespassed from Walmart in a previous incident.”
McMann said during the booking process, the officers discovered that Findley was in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and other items used to ingest narcotics.
Findley was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
