A Flomaton man was arrested July 12 on possession and distribution of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Michael Pleasant, 45, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 11:05 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street in reference to an improper turn.
McMann said during the officer’s interaction with the driver, Staples, the officer requested a K-9 unit to respond to the scene when the officer was denied consent to search the vehicle.
“The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics and the officers discovered over 10 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, plastic baggies and other items that are commonly used to ingest narcotics,” McMann said.
Pleasant was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
