Perdido man arrested July 12 on possession, tampering with physical evidence charges

A Perdido man was arrested July 12 on possession and tampering with physical evidenced charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Matthew Moye, 41, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 11:10 p.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on West Nashville Avenue in reference to an equipment violation.

“During the officer’s interaction with the driver, the backing officer observed the passenger (Moye) attempting to hide something between the console and the passenger seat,” McMann said. “The officers discovered several grams of synthetic cannabis (spice), and items commonly used to ingest narcotics.”

Moye was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
