A Pensacola, Fla. man was arrested Aug. 2 on manufacturing and possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Jonathan McGhee, 55, was arrested and charged with manufacturing of a controlled substance II, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers responded a residence in the 100 block of Lindberg Avenue in reference to a disturbance.
McMann added that when responding officers arrived on the scene, they contacted McGhee standing in the yard screaming.
“While speaking with McGhee, the officer observed a large marijuana plant in a vehicle in the driveway,” McMann said. “There was also a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence.”
McMann said APD narcotics agents were able to obtain a search warrant for the residence and the vehicles in the driveway. “Agents discovered methamphetamine, suboxone, numerous items commonly used to ingest narcotics, and evidence indicating the manufacturing of controlled substances,” he said.
McGhee was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
