Peebles, English honored during Atmore City Council meeting

The Atmore City Council presented proclamations to Chief Ronald Peebles on being named the 2024 Firefighter of the Year, and Capt. Louis English on being named the 2024 Career Firefighter of the Year.
Peebles said he’s just a guy filling shoes.
“I’ve got some of the best go getters (firefighters),” Peebles said. “Y’all, the city council, have supported this fire department the most in the history of Atmore.
“My hat’s off to y’all,” he added. “It’s my guys and y’all that make me look good.”
English thanked the city council and the community’s support for the honor.
Mayor Jim Staff read the proclamations.
