Elbert E. “Buddy” Godwin Jr., 68, of Atmore, passed away on Aug. 7, 2024 in Century, Fla.

Buddy was born on August 17, 1955 in Chrysler to Elbert E. and Mamie Sue Johnson Godwin Sr.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Maggie Lambert Godwin; his children, Roger Godwin of Colorado, Kenneth R. Stabler (Michelle Edwards) of Atmore and Mandy (Rusty) Emmons of Atmore; his siblings, Clyde (Ellen) Godwin of Brewton, Elizabeth Godwin of Excel and Patricia (Calvin) Felts of Ollie; his grandchildren, Grayson Emmons (Brannon) Freeman, Garrett Emmons and Mayci Stabler; his great-grandchild, Knox Freeman; along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 9, 2024 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with High Priest Beth Linam officiating. Interment followed in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Goodway.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
