Atmore woman suffers serious injuries in two-vehicle wreck at County Road 168 and Pine Barren Road Friday afternoon

An Atmore woman suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of County Road 168 and Pine Barren Road late this afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the FHP, a Ford pick up truck was eastbound on Country Road 168, and was approaching the intersection of Pine Barren Road, near Century, Fla. A Chevrolet SUV was southbound on Pine Barren Road, approaching CR 168.

FHP officials said the driver of the SUV failed to stop for the stop sign on Pine Barren Road, proceeding to the intersection.

FHP officials said as a result, the front of the SUV collided with the left side of the pic up truck.

FHP officials said the pick up truck rolled once, coming to a rest on the southern shoulder of County Road 168. The SUV came to a final rest within a ditch on the southeast corner of the intersection.

The driver of the pick up truck was transported by life flight as a trauma alert to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The adult passenger of the SUV was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, for serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The Atmore woman was a passenger in the SUV, along with a Perdido woman and a 5-year-old male passenger. The Perdido woman and 5-year-old suffered no injuries, according to the FHP.
