Atmore man arrested on drug, receiving stolen property charges

An Atmore man was arrested Aug. 17 on drug and receiving stolen property charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Q’watrell Ford, 31, was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property II, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana I and obstructing governmental operations.

McMann said on Aug. 17 at approximately 2:15 a.m., an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in reference to failing to yield to another vehicle.
McMann said the officer then contacted Ford.

“During the officer’s interaction with Ford, the officer discovered that Ford’s drivers license was revoked,” he said. “The officer called for a wrecker to tow the vehicle, and requested Ford’s keys several times. The officer then placed Ford under arrest for obstructing government operations.”

McMann said the officers searched Ford’s vehicle and recovered a stolen handgun, several loose ecstasy pills, and 6 grams of marijuana.

Ford was then transported to the Ecambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
