Atmore Community Hospital was awarded a $2 million spending grant from Congress, according to reports.
Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., announced the congressionally directed spending grant on Aug. 23.
The hospital will purchase medical equipment with the funding. The funding was secured by Britt in the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act 2024, according to reports.
“We are fortunate to have congress people such as Sen. Britt who actively work to support all of Alabama, including rural communities such as ours,” ACH Administrator Brad Lowery said. “This appropriation will allow us to replace an array of equipment that is end of life and allow us to improve the services we are able to provide our patients. Rural healthcare continues to face significant financial challenges, but having representatives willing to go to bat for rural communities is a testament to their dedication to the entire state. We cannot thank Sen. Britt and her team enough for the support.”
