The Leadership Atmore Class of 2024 dedicated a U.S. flag retirement box to the Billy Glenn Rushing American Legion Post 90 on Sept. 5.

The box was dedicated to allow residents to properly retire old flags.

Leadership Atmore Class Member Ryan Chason said most people don’t know what to do with their old flags, adding that people now know where they can place their old flags.

“We’re excited to do this,” Chason said. “This is our contribution for what you guys gave to us.”

American Legion Post 90 officials said this is a good addition to the post.

During the dedication, several residents retired their old flags in the box.

The flag retirement box is located under the pavilion in the butterfly garden, and flags can be placed anytime, officials said.
