An Atmore man was arrested on drug charges Sept. 15, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Virgil Peoples, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said at approximately 4:30 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of East Sunset Drive in reference to a domestic disturbance.

“When the officers arrived, they observed two family members involved in a heated argument and separated them,” McMann said. “While in the residence, the officers noticed a container with approximately 15 grams of marijuana, a digital scale and other paraphernalia.”
Peoples was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
