A Tennessee man and a Georgia woman were arrested Sept. 17 on drug and firearm charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Vincent Love, 32, of Tazewell, Tenn. was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; and Sasha Mashburn, 32, of Dewy Rose, Ga., was arrested and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana II.
McMann said at approximately 4:35 a.m. on the day of arrest, an APD officer noticed a vehicle in a parking lot of a local business backed up to the building.
“The officer investigated and found the occupants, later identified as Love and Mashburn, asleep in the vehicle,” he said. “When the officer looked in the vehicle, he observed drug paraphernalia in plain view.”
McMann said Love and Mashburn were awakened and detained.
“The officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and discovered over 20 grams of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, a digital scale, a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and a handgun,” McMann said.
Love and Mashburn were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
