An Atmore man was arrested Sept. 19 on drug and resisting arrest charges, according to officials.

“One of officers stopped and contacted a vehicle driven by John Dixon, age 59, of Atmore,” McMann said. “During the officer’s interaction with Dixon, the officer observed narcotics in plain view. The officers requested Dixon to exit the vehicle to conduct a probable cause search.”

McMann said Dixon refused to comply with the officers’ commands, and was taken into custody after a brief struggle to gain control of him.

“During the search the officers discovered nearly 12 grams of a white rock substance that field tested positive for crack cocaine, over 5 grams of synthetic cannabis (spice) and other items that are used to ingest narcotics,” he said.

Dixon was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
