Atmore man arrested Sept. 19 on drug charges after domestic disturbance

An Atmore man was arrested Sept. 19 on drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Emmanuel Banks, 40, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana II and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 3:45 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers were responding to a domestic disturbance complaint when they were informed the party causing the disturbance was leaving the scene. The officers were provided a description of the vehicle.
“A short time later an officer observed the vehicle on West Nashville Avenue and conducted a traffic stop,” McMann said. “The officer contacted the driver, Emmanuel Banks age 40 of Atmore. The officer noted that Banks seemed extremely agitated, possibly under the influence and was not complying with the officer’s instructions. The officer removed Banks from the vehicle and detained him.”
McMann said a K-9 officer deployed, and the K-9 alerted on the vehicle.
“Officers searched the vehicle and discovered a small amount of a crystal-like substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana and items used to ingest narcotics,” he said.
McMann added that the the investigation of the disturbance revealed the incident was a heated argument and a physical altercation occurred.
Banks was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
