An Eight Mile man died in a single-vehicle crash on Atmosphere Road near Poarch Road at approximately 2:45 p.m. today, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

According to ALEA officials, David W. Odell, 63, was fatally injured when the 2024 Freightliner dump truck he was driving left the roadway and overturned.

According to ALEA officials, Odell wasn’t using a seat belt at the time of the crash, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
