Atmore police investigators have identified a person of interest who allegedly shot another Sept. 28, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in an updated press release that as of this morning, Sept. 30, the victim is in critical condition in an intensive care unit, and investigators have identified a person of interest.

APD officials didn’t identify the person in the release.

McMann said in an earlier release that at approximately 11:55 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, APD officers responded to Atmore Community Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim transported by private vehicle.

“The victim was in serious condition and was flown by helicopter to a trauma center,” McMann said.
