County BOE approves 2024-25 budget during regular meeting Sept. 26

The Escambia County Board of Education Sept. 26 approved the 2024-25 budget during its regular meeting.

The budget includes a pay raise for employees.

The pay raise, set at 2 percent and including a raise for the superintendent, will be implemented with the October payroll. Other salary changes increased the pay rate for part-time certified teachers to $211.11 per day.
Also during Thursday’s meeting of the board, the group approved the Capital Play for fiscal years 2025-2029.
Superintendent Dr. Michele Collier told the board the plan is a required document for the system.
“The plan is required by the State department,” Collier said. “This is a draft of our thoughts on a plan for the next five years.”
Sen. Greg Albritton was also on hand for the meeting to present annual checks for use by the system.
The Albritton presentation covered a $150,000 check for use at Huxford Elementary with an additional $22,000 per high school in the county system.
The group also approved, by vote, to name Ann Peach of the Brewton City Board of Education as their selection for the AASB District 1 Board Director.
Board President Loumeek White was voted to serve as the 2024 AASB Delegate with Cindy Jackson serving as alternate.
The board approved the purchase of eight 71 passenger Class C busses at $143,293 and two 37 passenger special needs class C busses with wheelchair lifts at $153,844 each.
In other business, the board:
• approved the renewal of NexGen Financial Solution, NexGen Document Services and NexGen hosting effective November 2024 through October 2025 at $58,287.18;
• approved the contract with LeanFrog for district-wide compensation study in the amount of $19,850;
• approved to award bid to Double AA Construction Company, LLC for the Flomaton high School emergency roof replacement;
• approved the renewal of Rhithm screening platform from Securly for $25,851;
• Approved a three-year renewal of enVision math series for grades 6 through 8 from Publishers’ Warehouse for $102,147.50;
• approved the renewal of Discovery Education Experience streaming for $40,000;
• approved the purchase of audio enhancements for Escambia County Middle and High Schools and Rachel Patterson Elementary School from Howard Technology Solutions for $327,872.21;
• approved the purchase of audio enhancements for Huxford Elementary and Flomaton Elementary Schools from Howard Technology Solutions for $110,155.09;
• approved the FY2025 Homeless, EL, Foster Care and Consolidated plans;
• approved the following personnel items:
