Atmore man arrested Sept. 30 on burglary, theft charges

An Atmore man was arrested Sept. 30 on burglary and theft charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Christopher Dortch, 44, of Atmore, was arrested and charged with burglary III and theft of property IV.

McMann said at approximately 5:40 p.m. on the day of the arrest, APD officers responded to Atmore Community Hospital in reference to a theft.

“When officers arrived, they contacted staff members of the hospital,” McMann said. “The hospital staff informed the officers that a subject, later identified as Christopher Dortch age 44 of Atmore, entered a restricted office and removed a patients file and other items.”

McMann said the officers then located Dortch and recovered the missing file and all the other items.

Dortch was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
