Hurricane Helene disaster relief drive being held at Wind Creek Casino and Hotel

A Hurricane Helene disaster relief drive is being held at Wind Creek Casino and Hotel in Atmore.
The donation dates and times are Oct. 3, 2024 until they’re no longer needed. Donations can be dropped off from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the East Parking Lot, at 303 Poarch Rd., Atmore.
After delivering two tractor loads of essential supplies to the Eastern Band of Cherokee and nearby North Carolina communities, the Tribe and Wind Creek Hospitality invite the public to help extend further support to those affected by the storm.
Items needed include:
- baby diapers, pull ups and wipes
- baby formula/food
- basic toiletries/feminine hygiene products
- bug spray/inset repellent
- cleaning supplies/wipes/bleach/disinfectant spray
- dog/cat food
- first aid kits
- flashlights and batteries
- garbage bags contractor bags
- gas cans
- hand sanitizer
- lighters/matches/candles
- non-perishable food items
- paper products
- paper towels
- rain jackets/boots
- sleeping bags/blankets
- soap/body wash/shampoo/baby wash
- tarps
- toilet paper/toothbrush/toothpaste
- water
- work gloves
All donations will be taken to affected areas in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.
“The images coming out of the hurricane-damaged towns are devastating,” said Tribal Chair and CEO Stephanie A. Bryan. “We are eager to lend a hand in these rescue efforts and are also working with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina as they work to help those in their surrounding communities. We encourage everyone to join us in delivering hope and assistance to those who have lost so much.”

Wind Creek officials said a truck is already on its way back from taking a load to North Carolina.
