Terry Louis Elkins, 80, from Atmore, left this world for his Heavenly home on Oct. 6, 2024. He was a U.S Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War and later retired from Ford Motor Co. in Louisville, Ky. He was born in Bedford, Indiana to Thelma Rose and Wayne Edgar Elkins on March 10, 1944.
He married Sylvia Diane Barlow on Nov. 13, 1964 and fathered two children, Erica (Donald) Little of Atmore and Kimberly (Rodney) Johnson of Perdido.
He had five grandchildren, Joshua Husband of Atmore, Meredith (Mark) Morrow of Perdido, Joseph (Whitney) Husband of Atmore, Paul Lawson Jr. of Atmore and Matthew Lawson of LaGrange, Ky.
With the second marriage of Erica, he gained another grandchild, Kerven (Casey) Little of Pensacola, Fla.; great-grandchildren in birth order include Keegan Little of Pensacola, Naomie Lawson of McDavid, Fla., Mark Jr., Mia and Marie Morrow of Perdido, Zayne Lawson of Atmore, Rowan and Grayson Husband of Atmore and Miranda Morrow of Perdido.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings, Joan Hutchins, Larry Elkins and Jerry Elkins.
He is survived by his two daughters; two sisters, (Lorretta Brock of Jeffersonville, Ind. and Wanda (J.C.) Wright of Seymour, Ind.); one brother, Garry (Lisa) Elkins of Medora, Ind.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Wed., Oct. 9, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gene King and Pastor Glenn Weber officiating. Interment will follow in Serenity Gardens in Atmore, AL with Military Honors.
Visitation will be held Tues., Oct. 8, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
